  • Tourism and hospitality industry

São Tomé and Príncipe has unique natural resources — tropical forests, volcanoes, beaches and a rich ecosystem — making the country promising for the development of ecological and adventure tourism. In recent years, there has been a growing interest from tourists, especially from Europe, thanks to the country's safety and unspoilt nature. Investments in the hotel business, eco-resorts, agritourism, tour operator services and tourist infrastructure have undeniable potential!

  • Fisheries and marine resources
Due to its location, the country has rich marine resources. Fishing and aquaculture are important sectors of the economy, and the government is actively seeking foreign investors to develop the following areas: semi-industrial fishing, fishing and export of shellfish and seafood, processing and canning of fish and other seafood, and open sea fish farms. The most significant species are large pelagic fish, including swordfish and tuna.

Oil reserves have also been discovered in the country, opening up prospects for oil companies. Investors focused on the development of sustainable and renewable energy sources can find enormous potential here in the areas of hydroelectric power plant and mini-hydroelectric power plant operation, renewable energy source operation and production, and more.

  • Infrastructure
The country has programmes in place to develop infrastructure, transport and communications, aimed at strengthening the commercial platform for both the country's domestic interests and the entire Gulf of Guinea sub-region. The areas that can be considered are: construction of a commercial seaport, construction/modernisation of an airport, civil engineering (construction of roads, bridges, etc.), construction of residential complexes, urban sewage treatment facilities, shipbuilding, repair and maintenance, bunkering and port transhipment, maritime transport to ensure frequent connections between the archipelago and the African subregion.
  • ICT and IT

The San Gabriel submarine fiber optic cable landing station has a capacity of up to 5.12 Tbps, which opens up huge opportunities for the development of the digital economy, e-services and telecommunications. The speed and stability of the Sao Tome and Principe Internet will be ideal for IT startups, online services and digital infrastructure.
